    SQL 2005 Error version ??

I have a sql server database version 2005. i have a problem when I want to modify the tables with error:
This backend version is not supported to design database diagrams or tables.
I use Management Studio Express Editon.

What is the solution to this?

    thank you

It sounds like maybe Management Studio Express will not allow you to design on a non-Express instance. I can't really test that theory but that's what it sounds like from the information you've provided. Can that same instance of MSE perform the same task for a database attached to a SQL Server Express instance?

What version of SME are you trying to use?
