John, please delete this thread.
John,
I, (and probably many others) think this thread should be deleted. Please consider it.
Thanks.

Beleive it or not but the original question does actually get answered, with a couple of suggestions. In that respect, it is still a useful reference point for others.
I'd be happy to delete the pointless posts provided isurftheweb does the same and then the useful parts of it can stay.

It's not useful because when some searches for a thread relating to that question, all other threads would appeal over that one.

When you search, you get a little snippit of each post, so the title doesn't matter all that much. If everything that was irrelevant was deleted then it would still be a useful thread.
I think John is quite capable of making his own decisions anyway.

Not necessary. As I mentioned above, I'm not overly concerned with it. I understand it was a mere joke, so I it wouldn't hurt to let it slip this time.

..or at least move it to Chit Chat.
Well, Megatron should be moderator so he could handle all that movin' and deletin' of crap threads .
As in the FAQ, it does say...
What Are Moderators?
Moderators oversee specific forums. They generally have the ability to edit and delete posts, move threads, and perform other manipulations. Becoming a moderator for a specific forum is usually rewarded to users who are particularly helpful and knowledgable in the subject of the forum they are moderating.

A present for Megatron on his 10,000th (real) post - moderatorship of all the VB forums
So we'll see you in your new office in a couple of minutes then, Megatron

No. By real posts I mean *useful* posts, rather than total posts.
For total I think I hold the most on the forum Nice to know I contribute to load testing on the server...pity we're not supposed to be testing it now

Sorry, but I fail to see the connection between having a shed load of posts and making a good moderator. I'm not saying he wouldn't, but everyone else seems to think there is a connection.
The whole reason this started was because I was being a moderator-wannabe. Okay, so it wasn't handled well but had I been in a "official" capacity I don't think isurftheweb would have gone off his head .
Anyway, I don't think any member should be elevated above others by being given this status. There is already a pretty barbaric class system where that exact thing happens, why make it worse? Leave the moderating to John & co.
On the subject John, I'd like to know the reasoning behind this status business. Why does my being "Fanatic Member" make me any better than someone who is "Addicted Member"? Reeks of victorian style class-system IMHO
And mentioning no names but statuses like "Guru", "God", "Master" irritate me. Even if they are deserved they're still bloody pretentious. At least Parksie decided to use the opportunity for something amusing
Anyhow, excuse me whilst I go and ask 2848 dumb-arse questions .

My status is custom, doesn't mean I'm better than anyone else .
