Windows Live Messenger Beta
The smileys are just horrific
It doesn't remember my username, only in combination with password.
And only displays the real names of people in the contacts list...
It does seem they've built it ground up; it's much more stable in Win7, so I might forgive for the last two points at this stage...
Delete it. They just clutter threads anyway.

Re: Windows Live Messenger Beta
Wow, why are you still running the beta? I've been using the Live Messenger RTM for a year now, it's not the greatest messenger, but I like it much more than Yahoo Messenger.

Re: Windows Live Messenger Beta
Ah, I get it, it's a new messenger altogether with the same name as their current messenger.

Re: Windows Live Messenger Beta
I've noticed it's out of BETA.
And it still doesn't remember my email address and still has the horrific smileys.
I'm officially looking for a new IM client.
Suggestions?

Trillian http://www.trillian.im/learn/tour-trillian5.html can handle almost any IM protocol and there's no crap.

If you just want MSN, then emesene is brilliant. Another contender is aMSN, but it does look really fugly on certain Linux distros, and I think even windows due to lack of anti-aliasing.
However, if you want an all-in-one, I'd seriously recommend Pidgin. It's super lightweight, and supports tons of IM protocols.
