[RESOLVED] Where in the registry does it put the settings?
When use SaveSettings command in VB6, and then go to regedit and look in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software and also in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE, I can't find it anywhere. Here's the code I used.
Code:
SaveSetting "testapp", "testsection", "testkey", "testvalue"
It should either be in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\testapp
or in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\testapp
But it's not. So where does it go?

Thanks. Though I eventually (while waiting for a reply) actually used the search feature in regedit, and found where VB was hiding it.

Re: Where in the registry does it put the settings?
i do my best to test code works before i post it, but sometimes am unable to do so for some reason, and usually say so if this is the case.
Note code snippets posted are just that and do not include error handling that is required in real world applications, but avoid On Error Resume Next
dim all variables as required as often i have done so elsewhere in my code but only posted the relevant part
come back and mark your original post as resolved if your problem is fixed

My suggestion would still be going through the FAQ so that you actually understand where are the settings saved. This will save you 'time and energy' next time when you search the entire registry...

I remembered where it went after searching and finding it.
It was HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Programs\(whatever text I used for the appname field in the SaveSetting command)
