Congratulations everyone.
The next contest if there is one will be February 1st, 2011. I put it that way because while I enjoy running the contest I don't like having to solicit entries and votes. For example, despite my best efforts we only got 23 votes (including mine) and that, along with the less than normal number of photos entered, are probably the reasons for the 4-way 1st place tie.
Finally while I won't give out any information about who voted for whom, I will answer by PM any other questions you might have about your own photos.
Voting ends at noon Pacific time, August 29th. Here are all the entries.
_____________________________________________________________________
Hear ye! Hear ye! The 6th installment of our semi-annual photography will begin accepting entries on August 1st, 2010. As always we have the same prizes (none) and so it's all about honor, glory and ego.
You enter by submitting photographs to me and I will accept them in any of following three ways:
Upload the photos to Flickr (or any other place where I do not need to create an account to access the photos) and post the links in this thread. Optionally include a short description for each photo.
If the pictures are small enough, put them in a zip file and attach it to this thread. As with Flickr, optionally include a text file containing short descriptions of the pictures.
Upload the photos (all in one zip or rar file if possible) to SendUIt. When using SendUIt it's important to select the "Expire in" period before you upload. Please choose an "Expire in" period of at least 3 days. After you do that, post the link that SendUIt will give you here, and again include a textfile with descriptions if you like.
Here is a link to the winning photos from previous contests.
Contest Rules:
You may submit up to 5 photos.
The photos must be by you (honor system)
No "changing your mind" so think about which ones you want to submit.
No photos that previously placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd in any of the previous contests will be accepted.
Voting will begin after the contest closes (see below) and the voting will be by PM to me.
Only members who joined prior to the creation of this thread will be allowed to vote.
Voting for yourself will not be allowed.
You may vote only once.
Using PMs or emails to encourage people to vote for you is not allowed and I will consider that grounds for disqualification
Contest Winners:
1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners will be determined on the basis of total points awarded to a photograph. The total points will be calculated using the following formula for each photo: (10 x the number of 1st place votes) + (5 x the number of 2nd place votes) + (3 x the number of 3rd place votes).
Best Photographer will be awarded to the photographer whose photos (as a group) garner the most total points.
Miscellaneous:
The contest will close when 100 photographs have been received or Noon PDT (GMT -7), August 15, 2010 whichever comes first.
As soon as the first photos are submitted I will upload them to ImageEvent and provide a link so that all the photos can be seen in one place.
I doubt I'll enter this contest. I've already entered the best stuff from the limited group of surviving pictures I have in previous contests.
Here's a piece of Michael Stearns music put to some very nice time lapse cinematography that I think the photography buffs will enjoy. Happened across it the other day.

I wouldn't be able to join the contest. Because, my N70 is having trouble (display issue) and I'll be buying a new mobile during the last week of this month only.
Because, we are having Onam festival (last week of August) and there will be discounts for all models...
@oceanebelle: Nice photos

I'm looking forward to this year's entries, but regrettably I shall not be competing myself. Good luck everyone! Can't wait. I shall certainly vote though of course.
I have attached a zip file containing my entries to this post. There are four photos in the attachment and a text document containing the descriptions.
Regards and Good Luck to all submitters.

Only 34 entries after 10 days. It will be interesting to see what the total number of photos entered is. Doesn't seem like it will be too high.

I get the feeling there won't be too many more entries. Only 3 more days for entries. There are only so many VB Forums members that enter photos and there have been 2 contests per year so perhaps it would be better to make the contest annual instead of semi-annual or perhaps space them out by 9 months. Now if this contest fills up with a lot more entries you can just ignore my suggestion or you can ignore it for any other reason. We'll see what happens. If I was still into photography I might feel differently. I'm just using photos that I took years ago.

Never entered one of these before and I'm no good at photography (as you will be able to tell from these pictures) but as you are all moaning about the lack of entries I figured I would stick some in here anyway
Nice photos chris128. I like your first picture the most and then the last and the cat picture is good too. Dog pictures nice but probably won't be in danger of winning contest though I could be wrong.

No, I seriously like the first one. Would use it as a desktop wallpaper too if you would be so kind as to provide a high-res file too.
Me too...

If you like this contest then please tell your VB Forums friends about it (they have about 48 hours to enter) since I probably won't run it again unless more interest is shown.
Damn that's a nice lens. Do you get the chance to do much photography? You don't seem to upload to flickr much, just wondering if you have a better outlet for your work...
