    Slowing down read speed

    Hi,

I work in a computer store and we often get clients who want us to build silent PC's.
Most of the hardware isn't an issue, but when it comes to opticals they pretty much always are very noisy while reading.
When burning a CD you can slow down the write speed, and accordingly it makes much less noise.
But is there a good solution for slowing down read speed?

For a fact I know this is possible in Linux, but I was wondering if the same could be achieved in Windows.

    Thanks
Delete it. They just clutter threads anyway.

I know such utilities exist. Toshiba ships an "acoustic silencer" tool with many of their laptops.

    Go to: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/t...t/jsp/home.jsp

Enter search terms in the box at the upper right: acoustic silencer

You can also find it listed at many freeware download sites. It does appear to be freeware, and it comes in 32 and 64 bit versions for Vista and Windows 7.

I just looked again and there also seems to be a version of 32 bit XP .
