Ubuntu heating problem
Hi,
I am new using Ubuntu (Lucid Lynx), so please bear with me.
The crust of problem is that when running ubuntu, my system becomes very hot. It becomes impossible to even use the mouse pad.
I tried googling, and it seems to be very common problem. But nothing made sense to me and I am still stuck with the problem.
Anyways to deal with the issue?
Thank you.

Re: Ubuntu heating problem
I'm guessing it will be a hardware-specific problem. Have you tried checking the Ubuntu Forums to see if anyone else has your problem?

Re: Ubuntu heating problem
Common problems usually have simple solutions.
You may want to try a distro of Linux that's more laptop/netbook friendly.
What specs does your laptop/netbook/notebook(presumably) have?
Software I use and highly recommend: Opera, Miranda IM, Peerblock, Winamp, Unlocker Assistant, JoyToKey, Virtual CloneDrive, Secunia PSI, ExplorerXP, GOM Player, Real Alternative, Quicktime Alternative,Sumatra PDF, and non-freeware: Photoshop and VB6( ).
My codebank: AllRGB, Rounded Rectangle(math), Binary Server, Buddy Paint, LoadPictureGDI+, System GUID/Volume Serial, HexToAsc, List all processes and their paths, quasiString matching
Strings(search, extraction, retrieval etc): Retrieve BBCode Link from HTML, RemoveBetween ()'s, strFindBetween(str1,str2), Insert text in HTML, HTML - GetSpanByID

Are there any distros that aren't laptop-friendly? I've been running Ubuntu on laptops for ~3-4 years without problems.
