Typically there's hardware acceleration and the image doesn't appear in the actual DC. An overlay mixer is used. I don't think WMP has a screen shot.
You could consider the VLC ActiveX, it supports screen shots of the video stream. Also others(controls) do.
Software I use and highly recommend: Opera, Miranda IM, Peerblock, Winamp, Unlocker Assistant, JoyToKey, Virtual CloneDrive, Secunia PSI, ExplorerXP, GOM Player, Real Alternative, Quicktime Alternative,Sumatra PDF, and non-freeware: Photoshop and VB6( ).
