    Camera suggestions

I'm a camera noob, I've never purchased one outside of the occasional disposable. I would like to spend $200-$300 on a waterproof camera for an upcomming vacation. I don't plan on taking underwater photos, but it might come in handy. I do plan on spending time on a river, so having a waterproof camera would give me ease of mind.

I do plan on spending time on a river --- I've seen many cameras lost to the river... you can get waterproof disposable ones ... which work pretty good... and they float ... the one I got on a cruise a couple years ago even opens up so I can put in a new disposable camera and reuse it... cheaper than a 200$ one that will sink.

That's a good point, but I would like the pictures to be good quality. I'm not going over rapids, just a one day kyak up a calm river.
