update checker

hello, how can i check for update when my program boots. i been searching on the forum and i only see people say make a text file on ftp and stuff but i never see an actual example. is there something like oneclick deployment they have for .net on vb6? i have some codes my friend tried to help me but it dont work. please help? ^-^ i just want the program to check for update and if there is update it replace the old exe with new downloaded one.
