    Offload Ad Load

My internet connection is via long haul WIFI. It normally performs as well as DSL (1Mbps both directions). However, when there is any kind of hiccup in the network the problem is compounded by internet.com offloading the loading of ads to my pc.

What I mean by that is that the ads are not loaded / rendered at vbforums, then downloaded as the image I see. Instead the link for the ad is sent to my PC and then loaded from here. What I see on my PC are dup acks and retransmissions.

That's the most common method. Most advertising doesn't come from the same source server as the page you're viewing.

I understand that is how it is in a lot of places. What I am asking is why doesn't the forum load the ad and send it. From what I know of VBForums / Internet.Com they are co-located.

It would be an extra step, an extraneous one. It wouldn't improve performance, if anything it would slow it further.

What would be the advantage of doing it the other way?
