[RESOLVED] HDTV Set top box turns on and off by itself
Hi,
I have a HDTV set top box hooked up to an LCD monitor which serves ass my tv. Ever since a couple of days ago when we set it up it has been turning itself on for a few seconds and then off. I have noticed it usually happens around every 4 hours and it gets annoying especially in the middle of the night having the tv turn itself on.
Does any know how I could stop this from happening? We have already tried adjusting the sleep time on the box but it doesn't help.
Thanks,
Nightwalker

Re: HDTV Set top box turns on and off by itself
Make and model of the box?
I've noticed my Direct TV DVR has a tendency to turn itself on occasionally(I think it's related to automatic firmware/software updates, probably not an issue for your box??). But it doesn't turn the TV on. That's even more weird.
Software I use and highly recommend: Opera, Miranda IM, Peerblock, Winamp, Unlocker Assistant, JoyToKey, Virtual CloneDrive, Secunia PSI, ExplorerXP, GOM Player, Real Alternative, Quicktime Alternative,Sumatra PDF, and non-freeware: Photoshop and VB6( ).
My codebank: AllRGB, Rounded Rectangle(math), Binary Server, Buddy Paint, LoadPictureGDI+, System GUID/Volume Serial, HexToAsc, List all processes and their paths, quasiString matching
Strings(search, extraction, retrieval etc): Retrieve BBCode Link from HTML, RemoveBetween ()'s, strFindBetween(str1,str2), Insert text in HTML, HTML - GetSpanByID

Digital View XC4916
Edit:
I just looked at the "wake up" mode settings and found they are all in the disabled/off position.

Hmmm. 9 results on Google.... Do you have the phone number to a tech support, or the manufacturer's website? Have you tried contacting them?

Re: HDTV Set top box turns on and off by itself
Yeah, I thought that maybe the start of Australia turning of the analog signal in favour of digital could have something to do with it. However, since that isn't happening in my area yet it doesn't make sense. I think the tv only turned itself on once last night which, is down from 2 or 3 times the night before. I will try a factory reset ans see if that makes any difference.
Edit:
I have just preformed a factory rest hopefully it solves the problem.

Re: HDTV Set top box turns on and off by itself
The factory reset did not solve the problem! I think I am going have to ring the shop I bought it from and ask them if they can help me solve the problem.
Edit:
Well! My dad decided to swap my set top box with the other he and my mum were using in their room. He said he didn't experience the problem with the set top box I was using and the one he was using doesn't play up either when connected to my lcd tv monitor.
