The equivelent of a query in MS Access?

Hi all, I'm completely new to developing using Visual Basic Express 2010 and SQL Server but keen to build on four years of developing in MS Access.

Am I right in thinking that creating 'datasets' is the equivalent of a query in Microsoft Access?

For example, if I have one dataset (dataset.primarydata) and some associated text boxes that i could create a second dataset (dataset.primarydatacontacts) with a WHERE in the dataset statement so as to be able to build a Form showing various PK/FK datasets?

There is no equivalent of a query.A query is a query or a "view".
Datasets try to replicate-imitate a behavior.
But anyway if you want to play with data then u use datasets or standard ado.net and call sql procedures.
If you want specific help the tell us what are you trying to do(after you have tried something).
