    Direct Cable Connection

Sorry if this serious question offends anyone but...
I'm trying to do a er, what was it? oh yes I remember, a Direct Cable Connection via serial ports on 2 win98 PCs.

    Why doesn't it work?
Do I need a null modem cable or is a plain serial lead ok?

Null modem link is best, but serial connection is fine.

if both pcs arnt needed you could even try Interlnk and Intersvr

Have you got cable connection loaded to both PCs? Check the Accessories for it. Damn, neither of the PCs l am currently using have it, and cannot remember exactly where in Windows you check for it.

I found problems with connecting two, which was due to the cable l was using. Can't remember the exact one l had to get to overcome the problem, but it was coloured orange.

Ok to get it to work, you should take all your clothes off, smear yourself in peanut butter, and run down your street screaming "I'm the Christmas Turkey, some one stuff me!" Sorry, but it is chit chat and l was getting way to serious.

Something not a lotta people check....

Make sure they both have the same protocols installed, (and make sure you have them plugged into the com ports you've specified ).

Failing that, Jethros advice is still good, though it may be a thought to use tabasco sauce instead of peanut butter....

    I'll try the suggestions tonight

I have installed Direct Cable Connection on both PCs, unplugged the lead from my modem and plugged it into the 2nd PC

I'll have to check the protocols I think.

Will sesame seed spread do as an alternative to peanut butter?

I had an allergy test a month or so ago and it seems I'm allergic to grass seeds, house dust and peanuts
It's not fair! I love peanut butter.

When my wife asked me to mow the lawn I told her that if I can't eat peanut butter, I can't mow the lawn!
