Racist attacks in Yorkshire
A community leader has condemned an attack by up to 20 Asian youths on two white men in a West Yorkshire town. The brutal assault, in the residential Lund Park area of Keighley, is being treated as a racial incident by police. The attack comes just days after race riots in Oldham - although detectives state the incidents are not linked. One of the men is undergoing surgery for serious head and facial injuries. He is in a stable condition in hospital. A spokesman for Keighley's Sangat Community Centre said: "Nothing of this nature has happened before. It was quite nasty and very wrong. We would deplore any attack of violence on innocent people, no matter what race or culture they come from." But Acting Detective Sergeant Alison Martin from Keighley CID told said it was not a one-off. She said she could not elaborate because investigations are still on-going. Ms Martin said there had been a good response from the public about the attack. Two local men, aged 31 and 32, were walking in Victoria Road, Lund Park, when they were involved in an incident involving between 15 and 20 Asian youths on Wednesday evening.
Gangs of people going around beating people up because of colour. I thought we were civilised. Racism has come around like a boomerang. I don't care (not really the right word) what our ancestors did. I mean what they did was dispicable but sins of the father are not passed to the son. There isn't any excuse for Racist attacks. Not now, not ever. It just makes me sad to think that people judge other on the colour of their skin.
Anyway, thats me done. Just had to get it off my chest.

Nope this is new lunacy. Apparently the two cases are not linked. B*ll*cks, that's what i say. Of course they're linked. Hmmm... let me think... Racist attack in Oldham, days later another of EXACTLY the same incident in another town. Hmmmm.... co-incidence....?

The trouble is, that for years, all racism has been blamed on whites being racist to other coloured and religion people. It's only now that people are realising that people of all denominations are racist.

Yeah, well it's been predicted that humanity is destined to destroy itself so there ya go
Can't we all just get along? I mean, there's people from everywhere on this forum, and most of the time we do okay. Sure, there are differences and it's occasionally got a bit silly, but it calms down afterwards. Don't these people realise that it'll never work doing it like this?

Was wondering about your involvement in all this. Can just image it, whites and blacks squaring off against each other, some verbal going on, Arbiter with can of lager in hand screams out "What are you pooftahs, have a go you mugs".
What is the cause of this latest unrest in Pomgolia. Surely not the test series between England and Pakistan. We have our own racial problems here, but apparently not as serious as England, it's more everyone against John Howard and Pauline Hanson.

Totally agree mate, regardless of religon, race, politics, we should all just hate Poms and love each other. Damn, forgot SD is probably going to trawel that comment.

Ummmm.... Actually I think you I am what the northerners would call something of a sherry-drinking-southern-fairy to which my reply would be something along the lines of a quick headbutt. No I am a hard-cider(Jack Daniels, Lager)-drinking-southerner I am afraid. In fact if i traveled for about 45 mins I am at the south coast.
Do you accept Hard Drinking Southerners Into Oz?

Yep, send 'em all to OZ - keep all the pooftahs together I say!
Well, I did my bit for the racist tension. I saw a couple of white lads harrasing some poor Asian women with a little kid. Just being abusive, telling here to ***** of home etc
Using my trademark tact and diplomacy, I waded in. In the ensuing ruckus, the Asian woman scuttled away.
It's ridiculous really that I should have to do that. I mean, is she likely to have been the ones throwing the petrol bombs at the police. No, not really. So why have a go at her?

*shudders* Black Pudding... ugh!
Don't actually know what started the riots. It's either (IMHO) the Asian community have been mistreated in some way and are retaliating or there are just some Asian youths who have their heads up their arses and can't see sense for toffee.

It's the latter.
From my time in college I know most of the people who are involved in 'ringleading' the riots and they always were loose cannons. Never mind eh?
I got to know them all because I've had a couple of Bengali girlfriends in my time. It's ok for Asians to screw white girls but if a white bloke goes near an Asian girl then they don't like that. After about a year of threats, fights and general unpleasantness they finally realised that I'm not easily intimidated and figured it'd be easier to just get along with me.
I'm one of the few white people who can walk through Coppice & Glodwick (the areas that are all Asian) and have a fairly high chance of getting through unscathed.
Anyway, what's all this sh*te about black pudding and shandy? I'm from Manchester! We drink the blood of virgins and eat live rhinocerous up here!

Share and share alike that's what I say. It's that sort of "We're superior to you" and uptight attitude that starts the whole thing off. Don't people ever learn?

You're up north, if you are gonna tar all southerners with the same brush then so am I (to northerners that is) If you can admit that I could possibly be a scrumpy swigging southern nutter then I will possibly admit that you don't drink shandy and would drop the soap in a prison shower room on purpose. Go on you know you want to.

As I understand it, the race riots were triggered after a bunch of white yobs broke into an Aisian house, dragged the family outside and beat them to death in the street.
The sort of thing that gets people's backs up.

There is always blame to lay on both sides any wrong doing. I didn't know about that family. It's understandable that the asian community should be angry. But angry with the Yobs who did it. Not the entire white community. Bastards, the lot of them (the rioters that is not any community in particualar)

Last week Oldham hit the headlines after Asian youths said they were creating "no-go zones" for white people because police were not responding to attacks on their communities.
Latest police figures have shown a record level of racist attacks in the town, with over 60 per cent of victims white.
Police and community leaders have admitted there is a problem among a minority but have denied there are "no-go zones".
A police spokeswoman said: "We are investigating a number of racist attacks which took place over the weekend in the Oldham and Chadderton areas.
"On Saturday a 76-year-old local man was walking along an access road when he was approached by an Asian male who demanded to know his address.
"The aggrieved refused and was then pushed by the offender and received facial injuries.
"However, it is not yet clear whether the injuries were as a result of him falling to the floor or being struck."
She said he was in hospital where he was awaiting surgery to fractured facial bones.
That was from Arbiters post. So from that it sounds like the asians are the instigators. So we ask our man who can (Arbiter) Is this really true? I mean you live in that area and you seem switched on. Do you think it is a needless act of aggression from the asians? has it been brewing for a long time?

There's two sides to every story.
My Asian friends feel that the police don't protect them from white thugs, but one of my white friends (a copper) saw his colleague get firebombed by a group of Asian thugs.
If the go around setting fire to the local constabulary they can't really expect to be protected by them. The flip side of the coin is that some of my white friends are incredibly racist (though not around me) and I know some of them have been involved in some of the trouble causing.
There's basically a core of people from each faction (Pakistani, Indian, Bengali and White) who cause trouble. This then escalates.
The people I feel most sorry for are the Indian's 'cos they're attacked by all sides and never make it into the paper. They're a minority within a minority and noones cares about them because they don't have enough votes. Sad really.

Well I don't know if anyone was killed but an aisian family were dragged out of their homes and beaten in the street by a white gang. The police's failure to make any arrests on this case is thought to be the spark of the riots.

The incident you're referring to occured after the first riot, but before the bank holiday riots. A family of Asians were dragged from their homes and given a beating.
From the other point of view, a pitiful number of arrests were made as a result of the riots. Oldham town centre has more TV cameras on it than a BBC studio. Everyone would have been caught on camera for future posterity.
Only a small number of arrests were made because of the danger of sparking another riot by more Asians because of the rest. They've all been let off with slapped wrists.

That's not a problem. Are you Asian BTW? (not that it matters just curious) I don't think though that anyone here is against Asian communities just the morons who are causing all the hassle. From both the white and the Asian side. People should not stick up for those thugs just because they are from the same background.
