    Left handed stuff

Last week I signed up for a new bank account. During the interview with the advisor she asked me if I would like a chequebook and the option of a left-handed one. Now she was the sort of person you don't often meet in financial institutions in that she has a sense of humour and we were getting along like a house on fire.

So I said "Sure I'll have one of those, why not." thinking that she was joking about the left-handed thing.

Sure enough today a thick envelope dropped through my letterbox containing a checkbook with the binding on the wrong side.

Ok so a couple questions spring to mind...

    1. What kind of world do we live in where there must exist things like left-handed frickin' chequebooks? Who's that for, the tards?

    2. I must have signed my name at least 8 times in as many minutes during the interview and not once did I use my left hand to do so.

Good to know my money is in the hands of the vigilant and alert.

I'm left handed and I recently bought some left handed spoons from Walmarts. Eating food has never been this good!

There are several countries that chose to drive on the left hand side of the road. United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia come to the mind.

In India, you're supposed to drive on the left side of the road, but in a lot of places, such rules are considered a mere inconvenience. So people end up driving all over.

Aren't interviews for jobs and celebs? You had to "interview" to open a bank account?

What kind of questions did they ask you?

"name a time in your career when you had to get money but the ATM was out of order, how did you overcome this obstacle?"

    Re: Left handed stuff

I live out in the desert but I'm fortunate in that I actually have mail delivery right to the mail box that is on my property which isn't the case for a lot of my neighbors but the mail delivery persons never use a mail delivery type vehicle but always a standard car. The guy who usually delivers my mail has a right hand steering wheel car but just about all the other guys or gals that deliver my mail don't and one way they sometimes make it more convenient for themselves is to drive on the wrong side of the street. Since I live out in the middle of nowhere that's not that big a deal but I do have about 30 or more homes around me now within a radius of a couple blocks. It used to be my home was the only home within a radius of 1/3 of a mile. At that time it really wouldn't have made any difference at all.

When I was growing up I had a friend who frequently said, "Thinking is bad for your health." He meant not being certain can be bad for your health or the situation you're in. You should have been certain that she was joking before you said yes you want a left handed checkbook.

And, boy I've payed for that mistake now. I've never known such misery before, I didn't think it possible for a man to endure such hardships.

This left-handed chequebook has almost completely ruined my life.

By making such a point of it you sure know how counter intuitive a right handed checkbook is for lefties.

Personally I don't really mind most of the right handed stuff, but scissors hate me...

computer mice can be a pain, since there is less selection of left handed mice out there. Most of the time a lefty has to use one of those symmetrical mice, or learn to live with a righty mouse in their left hand.

As a kid, I used to write in spiral bound notebooks upside down just so I wouldn't have to deal with it... creates confusion on the part of the teachers at first.

I still have trouble with three-ring binders too. And until about 2 minutes ago, I was dealing with a right-handed biased mouse too...

    Oh, agreed, binders suck.
Mouse isn't really a problem; I've always used my right hand.
Motering skills in my lefthand fingers are more developed so I think that's why I prefer to use it on the keyboard.

I catch and throw as a lefty... that's the one thing I haven't been able to totally switch on. Writing, 90% lefty, and when naturally writing, I write left-handed.... but I have developed sufficient motor skills and coordination in my right, I can write with my right hand if I need to. Everything else I'm pretty ambidextrous.

I remember seeing some tennis player(not remembering who right now) playing in the US Open switch hands with their racket to get a shot. You rarely see that.

That's how I play tennis generally... makes every shot a fore hand shot... easier to control. It's not common except among lefties.

I'm left-handed on everything except using a mouse for some reason. I've never even considered using my mouse on the left side... I just use my right hand on the right side as usual. I met someone who used the moues on the left side like 2 or 3 years ago, I'd never seen anyone do that before but apparently it is quite common among left-handed people :S I can't imagine using my left hand to control the mouse...

I think left-handed programmers should take a stand against the bigoted rightist masses. They could cunningly design GUIs to be slightly more inconvenient for right-handed users. I mean, like Visual Studio, except that the toolbox defaults to the left-hand side of the screen when you reinstall it. BB

Ronnie O'Sullivan is a truly ambidextrous Snooker player. He plays equally well with ether hand. Indeed he still holds the world record for the fastest maximum break (147 points) in history.

However he is a complete jerk so nobody cares.

I can throw a wicked curveball left handed, but I have no velocity on my left handed fastball.

I can throw a wicked fastball right handed, but can't get a right handed curve to break more than half an inch.

My solution? Become a switch-hitting utility infielder who never made it past the Division III college level.
