[RESOLVED] Setting up a forum on webhost
Hi,
I already have my own website and domain! However, I was wondering whether setting up a forum using forum software on my current web space is accessible or do I have to sign up for another account?
Thanks,
Nightwalker

Re: Setting up a forum on webhost
Hello,
Who is your webhost, and what package are you currently on?
Depending on the host, they sometimes have 1 click deployment of certain packages, including forums, that you can host on your site.
This is quite a similar question to what is being asked here:

You might want to check it out.

Re: Setting up a forum on webhost
My host is Hosting24.com.
Yeah, I've looked in to the forum software such as phpBB3, wordpress, moodle, etc and I was wondering if I need to set up a forum server or not. However, going by packages mentioned above or in the other thread I could just install the on the same account as my current web site.

Re: Setting up a forum on webhost
Hey,
Yip, you should be able to. That is the way I understand it to work though. You slot them directly into your site, normally under it's own folder, and from there, you just provide a link to and from your site.
Which application are you planning on starting with?
From a quick look at your host:
http://www.hosting24.com/features.php
Seems they support to forums out of the box. Might be worth trying one of those first.

Re: Setting up a forum on webhost
Yip, definitely worth checking. It might not be the latest and greatest version of the software, that might be the only problem. If it isn't, or you aren't happy with it, you can always deploy another version.

Re: Setting up a forum on webhost
I found the forum creation tool and other useful software under the "Fantastico De Luxe" software suite. I created a test forum but now I can't decide what sections to put.

Re: [RESOLVED] Setting up a forum on webhost
Hey,
The best advice here would be to tailor your forums specifically to a particular topic, so that you can "control" the threads that are being created in them.
A good example would be right here, at this site.
