Looking 4 all the help/testers I can get
Hi all,
I'm still a bit of a novice with VB.net, but I have been putting together a project that I hope will be big. I call it Linkshare and I have a Beta version of my vb.net 2005 project. I'm looking for help with this project and testers.
Linkshare is a new sort of browser that allows users to share their favourite bits of the net. The application allows users to create collections of their favourite media on the net based around the topic of their choice. At the moment it uses FTP to transfer files created by a users to all other users.
For example you could create a topic based around "visual basic" it could contain the download of the express version, a video tutorial, weblinks to MSDN pages, and anything else you can find on the net in connection with your topic of choice. This is all presented to other users verbally using the speech engine (SAPI), and on confimation from the user it uses Linkshare's built in player to display all media without the need for and faster than your average browser.
It also has other functions like PC shutdown options and chat and more. The latest version now has speaking browser and HTML editor.
Heres a link to my temp site,
http://linkshare.cz.cc/
So give it a try, let me know what you think. and give me a buzz if you would like to help because it has huge scope, with a view of turning it in to a desktop assistant, to help you navigate the best of the net.
cheers

Re: Looking 4 all the help/testers I can get
Thanks for the feedback Stand, It was built on XP and I have personally only ever tested it on the XP OS, I have had feedback from other windows 7 users and they said it runs fine.
I was worried that the calls to the speech engine would not work on Windows 7, but it's the first problem I have heard. I assume you have the system requirements already,
.net framework 2.0 or above
Flash 9.0 or above
SAPI 5.1 (speech engine), feedback suggests the windows 7 speech engine can handle it.
It would be really great to know if the non speaking version works on your PC ?, you can find it on the download page. In that version I have not referenced any speech engine.

Thanks

Updated
I have just updated the release, it contains as part of the installation flash10c.ocx. I don't know if that will fix it but after a bit of digging on the net I found
"Adobe doesn't provide direct links to the component's installer, a browser specific version is always downloaded."
I think you may have to download the latest flash using Internet Explorer, because I referenced the Flash component and it would make sense that the .net framework would look towards IE for that component.
Can you let me know if this helped.
