Via chipsets
I seem to remember someone moaning about a problem with VIA chipsets in Win2k, and I just found I had the same problem... the on-board sound wouldn't work until I got the right drivers off the CD that they gave me. If whoever it was also has this problem, ask and I'll see what I can do.

Its was Parksie, though I had no problems with the chipset and 2000 once ver 2.8 of 4in1 came out.

I never got a chance to install the AllInOne drivers because the setup never finished

I gathered that from your previous post, which is why I never suggested it to you.
You might call the your MB manf, VIA or MS for help....If you feel like waiting on hold.

Can't be arsed. Will stick with 98 for now 
I'll just use my dad's PC (with working 2000 that has never ever crashed) if I really need 2000 features
