Hello guys,
Why does Win7 (x86) still (sometimes) takes so much time to copy files from local HDD to an external USB 2.0 thumb drive?
(Almost 3 hours to copy 103 MB worth of data...)

I find this to happen with Win2k, WinME, WinXP, Vista and Win7. I can copy stuff from my computer to my external HDD using usb2.0 quite a bit faster than my flash drive. Flash drives are inherently slow due to the flash chips it uses.
Currently using VS 2015 Enterprise on Win10 Enterprise x64.
Are you sure the USB PORT is 2.0? Just because the Flash drive is, doesn't mean the USB port or USB hub you have it plugged into is. USB 1.0 is REALLY slow.
Otherwise, there's something really wrong with your configuration/hardware/etc... I can move 4gig to a flashdrive in a few minutes with Win 7.

Yes, the port is definately USB 2.0. It's a pretty new computer and I don't think you can find USB 1.1 ports on any computers that is less than 5 years old. The funny thing is that it doesn't do this every time, only sometimes.

Are you using the same flash drive every time? If so, format it when you can and see if it improves speed.
