anyone know an disk imaging app for XP?

I am looking for backup software that can do full image backups (not single files) of Windows XP machines. I am looking for free software, or at least something that has a multi machine license, as I need to install it on 3 machines.

Windows XP has ASR, but it only works on XP Pro.

I looked at acronis, but it is 150 to get 3 licenses of the home version, and the customer I am working with has already exhausted the budget for this project with the hardware they bought.

Cobian backup is a good free product for doing backups, but doesn't do disk images.

    Anyone ever come across anything?

That looks good but how is it for restoring to a fresh drive?

The drive has to be partitioned first.

pcuser, have you used the product before?

If so, can you answer these questions:

    1) in the event of system failure, and drive is replaced, how does one go about restoring the image? Do they reinstall windows and then this software, and then run a restore? Or does it offer a boot solution where you can restore from a boot disk?

    2) the backups will be stored on a network NAS. Will this software have access to restore this data over the network if needed?

I do plan to test myself before implementing on a client, but maybe if you know, it will save me some time.

Also I can see "Can access networked drives" for "Drive Image XML"

I am going to set up an XP VM on my hyper-v server to run some tests with it and see if it will meet the needs. Sounds good so far. Thanks for the suggestions.

Yes, I've used it. It's included in UBCD4Win which is a live bootable PE based disk with network support.

ImageXML, but I didn't get around to make a bartPE image yet to see if I can successfully recover an image or not. Planning to do that today or tomorrow. I don't have to go perform the actual on site work until Friday.

    www.smartdeploy.com

The coms are free, but the enterprise edition is worth the xtra $$. It's per tech licensing. Pretty cool stuff. Especially the way they handle drivers.
