I would like to be able to make a form's background tranparent but show the controls on it. Or better still draw boxes directly on to the screen on top of whatever is there already without my boxes taking the focus from the current active app.
Any ideas?

Maybe I should have looked harder first.

There is a program called VB Shaped Form Creator that lets you create odd shaped forms, and the background will be clear. It also lets you draw a picture and make the form's shape the same as the picture.
Sorry, but I don't remember the URL for it.
