    Windows XP Corrupted Installations

    Hey everyone.

I've had this issue three times now. Let me explain what I do.

This has happened with three laptops of various vendors (HP, Dell, and Toshiba). Each of these laptops had failing hard drives. I've replaced the hard drives with fully functional, tested, new hard drives. I've installed the Windows XP operating system according to their COA. I've run though and installed the latest updates, including SP3, IE8, and various other updates listed in the Windows Update website. Everything appears to be running fine until after this is all said and done. The system will then complain of insufficient resources during logon and will try to logon with a temporary profile. This, of course, fails, and then the system won't logon at all. I've rebooted the system and it'll let me into to the account afterward but all of the system files are just about corrupt. So much so that I can't run SFC.

Now the only thing that I can think of is that either these new hard drives actually are bad, which I seriously doubt, or there's a Windows Update that's causing some problems for the system somewhere.

Has this happened to anyone else? If so, did you resolve it and how? Help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Only those who try will become.

How much RAM do the laptops have? Have you checked to make sure that it works correctly?
