    SDLC managment software

Does your company utilize a SDLC management software. If so, which one, and do you like it. Our application documentation consists of network shares filled with MS Word documents. We have an application housed in Lotus notes that is used for tracking service requests aka defects and enhancements. To track the various approvals along the SDLC road, an excel spreadsheet is passed between departments for signatures. We have another system that tracks time spent on the service request. I would like to find an application that handles application documentation, service request tracking, approvals, and time tracking.

    Re: SDLC managment software

Well, while learning SDLC, etc I used Microsoft Project to help to development of the project. Although, I might decide to use a different program later on.

    Re: SDLC managment software

I would like to find an application that handles application documentation, service request tracking, approvals, and time tracking.
That sounds like 3 applications to me !

1 to hold your application documentation (we use Share Point)
1 for bug / service tracking (we use Jira)
1 for time tracking against Project & Holidays, expenses (we use Project Minder)

Not sure what you mean by approvals !! approval of what ?

I don't know of any application that does the lot.

    Re: SDLC managment software

I'm thinking a home grown application might be the best answer. Our process revolves around approvals to move the application along the SDLC path, for example.

    Business Analyst: approves the requirements
    Developer: approves the requirements
    Tester: approves the test
Change Control Board: approves the application for production

    Re: SDLC managment software

Ah right i see what you mean,

We do have a process for approvals but they consist of you completing the required documentation for the Stage you are at in the SDLC and then a meeting or telephone meeting between the project stakeholders (e.g. Dev Manager, Product Manager e.t.c) no actual application.

I have to say Share Point isn't a bad application for storing Project documentation, and you can turn on Versioning for a document and even make users check the file out & back in when editing.

BugZilla or Jira are both pretty decent Bug / enhancement tracker systems and they are free. With Jira you can pay them to host the system for you if you wish.

I have never come across a system the combines the lot though !
