Re: Superbowl XLIV - Saints Win!
I thought that the Colts would be more likely to win but I knew it could go either way and am happy the Saints won it. When Manning threw that interception in the 4th quarter he just about handed the win to the Saints. If he had instead thrown a pass that turned into a touchdown it could have turned out very different. Brees was the better quarterback in that particular game.

Its called Globalisation, what Nike & Coca Cola e.t.c have done in Business, Football has done in Sport. There are not that many countries left that don't play Football.
I like American Football, but i couldn't go down the park or gym and join in a game, nobody really plays it outside America.

The superbowl was great this year, unlike some years it was interesting until very near the end.

Actually you could, but you might have to go a little further than Hack etc would... my local club (which plays in the national league) is about 3 miles away, and I'm willing to bet there is one fairly close to you.
Saying that, finding a game is certainly harder than most other 'major' sports - you certainly won't see it in every park.

You know what your right, and they even play at my old rugby club which is quite funny, but my point still stands until now i didn't even know there was a league for American Football in the UK and i am willing to bet that a large majority of the general public don't know either !

Re: Superbowl XLIV - Saints Win!
That is definitely changing, and American Football is getting noticeably more popular... so much that from now on you can probably only watch the NFL live on Sky Sports (the prime-time games used to also be on 5, but they think they've lost it), and due to the huge demand for tickets at the annual Wembley game there is a very good chance that we will soon have 2 NFL games a year over here.

Dont forget that it takes no expense to play socker as you can use a rock, can or any other piece of substance that can be made to roll.

Not unless you want a broken foot !
But if your point is that it is easier to play football because all you need is a ball then yes that's true but i hardly think this alone explains it's popularity.

It's a perfect explanation of why the sport is so popular.
Except in America, of course. In our poorest neighborhoods here they don't bother kicking the ball - they nail a cut-up milk crate to a light pole and play basketball instead.

Particularly if you don't like the sport very much and would like a convenient reason as to why it so popular !

Excuse me, when did I ever state that I don't like soccer? I happen to watch Fùtbol de Liga Mexicana on Univision quite often in the summer, thank you.
You should know that it's not very wise to make douchebag assumptions like that...

Why do some of you Brits insist on turning every friggin' thread about American football into an argument about how it is inherently inferior to soccer?
This was supposed to be a thread about the Super Bowl. If you wish to debate about which sport is superior start your own damn thread.
I never thought I would have to ask this, but hey RobDog - is it possible to get an "ignore" feature on this site?

Well look at how this thread is turning. "Cant we all just get along?"?
To answer the question, yes, there is a feature called your Ignore list or what used to be the Buddy list.

Pfft, both of your games are inferior. GAA Football or Hurling, now they are sports of Kings.
