Windows 2000 is the spawn of Satan's deformed mutant sister-in-law...
Thanks to everyone who helped with my problems with 2000 and VIA chipsets...it looks like they'll be solved soon
Service Pack 2 is out and it should fix the problem -- I can't even do a direct replace of viaagp.sys because the installer crashes But since you can do a parallel SP2/2000 installation I'll do that in a few weeks when it comes out on a magazine CD (101MB and I need a 26K file from it ).

I expect it'll be with PC Plus (I'm subscribed to them) because they always have things like that.

I don't like PC Plus. I've got a subscribtion to PC Pro (but only because they gave me 3 issues for 1p!!). I thought i'd carry on the subscription anyway coz it's quite good.

The only file I actually need is viaagp.sys which I already have, but I can't see how to get it to use that. Once it actually installs I can run the web-based setup, but it keeps dying.
I've copied the CD contents to my HD so I can use that, but I don't think replacing viaagp.sy_ with a compressed copy of the new file will work
Thanks for the offer, anyway.

BASTARDS!!!!!!!!
Not happy about this, people.
Spent all yesterday evening downloading it, used another (working) W2K PC to make the integrated install, ran the installer...crashed in exactly the same place. Did this 3 times in a row and then I gave up because I can't be arsed to f**k around with it.

I wouldn't be too pleased either! Mind if I join you in your little rant? Well anyway, here goes....
.....MSN still isn't working and I'm getting a tad annoyed of seeing "the service is not responding at present or you are not connected to the internet." I am connected to the internet. The service works fine for other people. This is doing my head in. Bloody Microsoft.

Yeah course he does. I see him come out the gay pubs every night around 2am looking particularly unsteady on his feet.

errr...arrrr......errrr. *flustered*.....star gazing!! yeah, that's right, star gazing. For some reason the stars are always more visible above well known gay pubs. Don't as me why, they just are!!
