Congratulations everyone. While mendhak ran away with this one I thought that the overall quality of the submissions was the best yet. Good work everyone!
Look for the next contest in August. The mantra for that contest will be "Beat mendhak, beat mendhak"!
Finally while I won't give out any information about who voted for whom, I will answer by PM any other questions you might have about your own photos.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
This contest is now closed so send me a PM containing your votes now! The PM should look something like the following:

Hear ye! Hear ye! The 5th installment of our semi-annual photography contest is now accepting entries. As always we have the same prizes (none) and so it's all about honor, glory and ego.
You enter by submitting photographs to me and I will accept them in any of following three ways:
Upload the photos to Flickr and post the links in this thread. Optionally include a short description for each photo.
If the pictures are small enough, put each one in a zip file and attach it to this thread. As with Flickr, optionally include a text file containing short descriptions of the pictures.
Upload the photos (all in one zip or rar file if possible) to SendUIt. When using senduit it's important to select the "Expire in" period before you upload. Please choose an "Expire in" period of at least 3 days. After you do that, post the link that senduit will give you here, and again include a textfile with descriptions if you like.
Here are the rules:
You may submit up to 5 photos.
The photos must be by you (honor system)
No "changing your mind" so think about which ones you want to submit.
No photos that previously placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd in any of the previous contests will be accepted.
Voting will begin after the contest closes (see below) and the voting will be by PM to me.
Only members who joined prior to the creation of this thread will be allowed to vote.
Voting for yourself will not be allowed.
You may vote only once.
Using PMs or emails to encourage people to vote for you is not allowed and I will consider that grounds for disqualification
Contest Winners:
1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners will be determined on the basis of total points awarded to a photograph. The total points will be calculated using the following formula for each photo: (10 x the number of 1st place votes) + (5 x the number of 2nd place votes) + (3 x the number of 3rd place votes).
Best Photographer will be awarded to the photographer whose photos (as a group) garner the most total points.
Miscellaneous:
The contest will close when 100 photographs have been received or Noon PDT (GMT -7), February 15, 2010 whichever comes first.
I will upload the photographs as they are available to an account that I have on ImageEvent. (Thanks to those who suggested I store the photos on Flickr but I've decided to keep them on ImageEvent).
As soon as the first photos are submitted, I will provide a link to the photos.
There are no guarantees on who is going to win the contest but, i am pretty sure that Mendhak will take the first place which rightfully belongs to him.

Ah, good ol' Boat house row on Kelly drive. Pretty to look at at night, but 76 is sure a nightmare to drive on sometimes. Definitely a nice picture of it for sure.

Wow @ abhijit #4. What a shame you didn't put that on flickr but this unheard of site called 'zoomr'.
mendhak,
Your memory is failing you.
I put the same photo on flickr as well and you commented on it.
Zooomr gave me a free pro membership, so i am promoting it.

A duckling swimming in a lake
A fountain of water
A monkey hanging by the tail of another
The Mysore Palace lit up in the night
A giant tusker
These are photos from my honeymoon trip. Now don't ask me what I was doing with ducks and tuskers on my honeymoon.
The tusker and the foutain are proper photographs taken with my Nokia N73 Music Edition (3.2 mp). The others are photos taken from my handycam footage.

The fountain of water looks suspiciously similar to the one outside the Kodai Kanal Muncipal Corporation office.

Whoa, I thought you said Mysore, but that must have been my reading comprehension.

Nah, the fountain is at Kodai Kanal. I have posted a pic of the Mysore palace in the evening, with the Mysore Police Band playing in front of the palace. We were fortunate to be in Mysore on a Sunday. Our driver made it a point to take us there at around 6. At close to 7, the palace lit up with thousands of bulbs.
The elephant is from the park outside Mysore. The monkeys are from the Chamundi Hills temple.
