Bar Code Scanner
Hello,
A friend of mine has just shown me quite a nice App for his iPhone that uses the built in camera to scan a bar code, and query Amazon and Google Product for that bar code.
I was thinking about doing this on the Windows Mobile Platform, and was wondering if anyone had done this before. Do you know if it is possible?
I would quite like to integrate this into my own application, if that's possible.

HI,
I know there is some 3rd party s/ware around that will scan a bar code from a camera so that should give you a start.
Google search gave me http://www.mobileama.com/Barcode.htm as a first entry or http://www.dtksoft.com/home.php from a discussion here
We did a similar application, but developed our own control to do it

Re: Bar Code Scanner
I wrote an app for the Honeywell Dolphin 7600 which runs Windows Mobile 6, but the device had a .NET SDK from Honeywell that contained a scanner API . All I had to do was ask the scanner object for it's data when the scan event was triggered.
You're talking about taking an image with the camera, and having the program analyze, orient and decode any potential barcode information in that graphic? That's no easy task.

Re: Bar Code Scanner
Hey,
Thanks for the info.
I have literally just started looking at this, so actually, I am not sure what I am asking for yet
I will take a look at the links, and get back to you.
Thanks

Re: Bar Code Scanner
Hey,
So I have had a quick look at i-nigma, and for 2D barcodes, this seems to work really well. But for some reason, normal barcodes are not being read. Do you know if this is a licensing thing, or does it just not work?
I haven't had a chance to play with the second option yet. But will report back when I do.
