    Weird quirks

We have a user at my place of work with a dell latitude d830 purchased in 2007. It is running windows xp.

Recently, sometimes after hibernating, the computer doesn't display icons on the desktop. It shows the text for the icons, but no icon images. When it is like this, the minimize and maximize buttons also don't render on some windows.

    Any ideas?

That is an odd one, have you tried updating the graphics card drivers?

it may be losing graphics memory upon suspend, but not actually know it lost it. Most systems i have seen will "refresh" the screen after a return but if it doesnt it would be the same kind of issues you would see if a game let you alt-tab out but didnt re-load textures upon return. I have seen this issue, but never in xp. I thought it went out with win95.
