What do you carry your camera in?
I'm looking for some kind of bag or backpack for my DSLR.
I never want to go too far away from any kind of "rain-shelter" when I'm out photographing because I dont have anything to put my camera in, incase of rain.
What do you use?

Re: What do you carry your camera in?
If I'm actively using my camera while walking then I take a thin plastic bag (eg the ones you get from supermarkets), then just wrap it around the camera in an emergency.

I have one of these.
They do backpack-style ones too, with the camera part at the bottom, laptop section at the back and some backpack space at the front.

Re: What do you carry your camera in?
I'm just an amateur who likes to take snaps in (sometimes) hostile environments. I've found that, for me, the usual camera bags don't suit.
It depends on the terrain and weather, but for short / light hikes, and holiday / family snaps in reasonable weather, a multi-compartmented expandable sports lunch bag. Laugh if you wish, but it serves me well.
For hard going in unpredictable weather, any delicate camera gear goes in watertight plastic containers with gaskets (and clips for the lids) in a rucksack (together with food, drink and hiking essentials)

With some cameras you can get a cover. I don't know if they make one for your model. If you're just going to use the lens that you have on your camera you could just use a plastic bag like wossname said but if you plan on taking some other lenses out on your camera excursion then it's nice to have a camera bag that can carry your camera and an extra lens or two. Back when I had my SLR Canon Digital Rebel I bought a camera case on ebay. It could carry my camera with up to perhaps 3 lenses along with a set of close-up lenses.

Re: What do you carry your camera in?
I was just looking at the Kata DR467 backpack. There was an auction for it that ended today, I was just a couple of minutes too late. Bummer.
I think a backpack of some sort would be the most comfortable option. Plus a good backpack would also allow me to use it for carrying books and what not. It's a shame they're all so damned expensive. I'll keep an eye out on the second hand market for one I think.

In the local branch of the countries biggest camera outlet you can pick up my Lowepro for > £100, it was freaking expensive.
However slap on eBay and got mine for nearer to £50, woohoo!

Pukka, a new word for my vocabulary!
It is pukka..pukka indeed.
It can hold a reasonable amount of gear, which is nice...even though I only have 1 camera with the kit lens. Its nice to be able to bring all extra equipment though..lens pen..extra memory card..filters etc.

Re: What do you carry your camera in?
When I'm transporting my camera long distances over land I tend to stow it in a hard-case crafted from the festering, shredded remains of my enemies. It's stylish and they are in plentiful supply. The stitching gives way occasionally at inopportune moments (like when I'm going through customs for instance, but generally it's handy. And footy.
