Flying from London to Brisbane - TWELVE DAYS
90 years of air travel
The best bit: In 1935 it was possible to fly from London to Brisbane for £195. The journey took 12-and-a-half days.

That's a rather low average velocity for the trip. If the price included meals that's not bad. Just the cost of 12 and a half days of meals would be considerable.

195 GBP today is about 320 USD. 320 USD back then, after inflation, becomes $4790 today. My method of approaching this is probably wrong though.

I once drove from Derby To Melbourne in about half an hour. California and New Zealand are even closer.
I don't live here any more.

That must have been some car you were using. Did it look something like this?
Attachment 72773
Actually that car would only get you a measly 763 mph. You'd need to multiply that a number of times to cover the distance you're talking about in half an hour.

It's only about 15 miles or so. Thrust SSC is possibly not the most efficient mode of transit for such a brief journey.
I don't live here any more.

I have never been in a plane with 3 sections (Sides and Middle). I have only been on planes that are 3 seat rows on one side and 2 seat rows on the other, and 3 on each side.

I once had a Jamaican taxi driver take me from Chicago Union Station to my apartment in Elmhurst in under 10 minutes.
Down the Eisenhower Expressway.
During rush hour.
In a giant Chevy Caprice.
As I was digging my fingernails into the back seat upholstery I couldn't help thinking "this guy deserves a seat in Formula One." His tip was more than generous.

I tend not to visit Brisbane under any circumstances, they have Queenslanders and drop bears up there

Koala bears? Dropping bears is something only someone who is very clumsy would do. Bears do not appreciate being dropped.

No, koalas aren't bears... Drop bears are altogether more ferocious.

Another potential tourist that we go missing in the outback ... we blame it on serial killers rather than the local fauna, which of course is all cuddly and nice

I see. Drop bears are a type of creature of some sort. Not something you'd want to run into unless you're having suicidal tendencies.
