Found it! The bit of interest is in bold at the bottom
Microsoft said: “We must continue to add features and functionality, or else no one is going to want our product.”
It is thought that Microsoft spent $1 billion (£700 million) developing Windows XP. The computer industry is banking on it to boost sales in the run up to Christmas.
The program is the first to be developed by Microsoft for both home and office users. Microsoft is already claiming that the program offers more extra features than before, and is less likely to crash than previous versions of Windows.
The vast majority of home and office computers around the world already use Microsoft operating systems.
The new version of the software will be out on October 25, and is expected to be free to consumers. Microsoft plans to spend twice the amount to launch Windows XP as it cost to launch Windows 95 in 1995. Critics of Microsoft argue that by bundling its own free software with Windows it gets an automatic monopoly and pushes rivals out of the market.

surely it meant to say:
The beta version is out October 25th...
but that can't be right.
can we really believe our sources?

Well, I don't really have anything against Microsoft. Some people hate them because they are all about money, but hey, if they make good products why not use them?

writing haskell makes your life easier:

Totally agree with Ked on this one - IE5.5 is absolutely the most buggy app I have ever used, it's abysmal, but Netscape sucks so much ass that I can't bring myself to use it, and Opera... well yeah. I want features! I just have to remember what makes IE crash and not do it.

Hehehe...Notepad Nice program, but needs 200mb runtimes
I'm not actually bothered about MS. Yeah, their stuff gets fatter every time round, but it works for me. I used to be a Netscape user until IE4, at which point I started using that because "it came with it" and was just as good, if not better. I do have the latest Mozilla milestone, just for keeping up with developments, which are looking very promising.
And I just loooove Windows Installer. Very nice piece of work
