    quick question for the group

This is not exactly on the topic of VB.net but...

I am looking for someone who can evaluate my technical skills from my resume. I am looking for someone to justify in a letter or email my assertion that my programming skills are out of date because the last programming language that I have used professionally is VB 6 some 7 years ago.

I need this letter to help convince certain groups to help me with the funding costs of re-certification.

If anyone is interested, please contact me at Removed By Mod

    Thanks

Well, your employer will decide if you need the extra training and your resume will list what your current technical strengths and weaknesses are.

    Edit:

We probably would not be able to help you much because we have not seen any of your work.

Re: quick question for the group

I'm really not sure we could help.

For a start I don't think there's anyone here whose qualified to make that judgement - at least, not qualified in any formal way. Sure we're programmers, there's some MVP's, there's various people with various qualifications but whose to say whose word carries any significant weight.

Then there's the fact that whether or not your skills are out of date is an entirely subjective function. It depends on who you ask and what your own situation is. If you're working for a VB6 shop then your skills are bang up to date. If your job isn't prmarily development but you maintain a few office apps writen in VBA then, again, your skills are up to date. If you work in a cutting edge development house that uses every new technology as soon as it's released then you're a dinosaur.

Perhaps if you tel us who this letter's for and why they want to see it we might be able to give some better advice.
