I was just seaching through the board (which is great) but I feel bad for all those postings that have 0 replies in them. Just a little thing that i noted, it would be really funny now if this reply gets 0 response, oh the irony

So you got a reply. Generally l surf the site once a day to have a look at what people have posted, and help those l can. Perhaps the site managers could make a new thread or something for postings with zero replies

When I come in I actually scan those with 0 replies....

Because that means nobody has helped them and if I can help at least they got a response...

Funny thing is... that even though I have helped over 30 people with their problems of the 5-6 questions I have posted here there have been only 1 or 2 replies in total.

So I know what its like getting no replies... hence my helping out those you dont either

I hardly ever get replies either, I've had 2 which I appreciate but I've Posted Loads of questions How do we get a BB for unanswered questions, cos that'd be helpfull both for replying and maybe even getting some answers.

I used to get replies to almost all of my posts, back when I was just beginning and my questions were things like, how to you make that yellow triangle with the exclamation point appear in a message box? Now about a third of my questions get answered, and I take that to mean that 2/3 of the time I am trail-blazing through untouched territory! e.g. I don't know the answer and neither does anyone else

I think its great to see into people's imaginations when they ask things like:

How can I make my PC sprout arms and legs, and walk around like a real life person

I actually saw this posted early last year, and co-incidentally it got zero replies!

People post replies either to helpful or because it makes them feel good that their skillset is sharp.. (There's one guy at one of my contract sites that LOVES to be asked questions... He's been doing COBOL for 20 years, and if you ask him one question, you make his week.)

Anyways, what if the questions were promoted after a day of no replies to a SUPER PROGRAMMER forum.. A lot of people would pay more attention to them there.. if you could answer those questions - you are a card-carrying, pocket protector, plaid flood wearing, thick duct taped glass dawning nerd. 100%

That's what you want, right? <G>

I'm one of those people who take pity on the (now christened) naughties, as i go around and try my best to solve the almost impossible problems, which no-one touches.
if everyone did this then we could banish the naughties!!!!!!

Like most people, my time is at a premium. When I go thru (dead giveaway of an old COBOL programmer) posts, I look at what I either can help with, or am weak on to learn. Those posts that show only HELP!!!! in the subject, I blast past because I can't tell if I am wasting my time or not. I do feel sorry for those posts with no replies, and if I can help, I will stop and do so.

    I agree, HDR..

I try to make my subjects descriptive.. I can't stand the ones that bate responders with no technical description, but enough flavorful wording to get people to open it...
