I just came back from the store with the Uncharted PS3 Bundle. I also picked up Infamous and Little Big Planet. I might be devorced come Monday but the next few days should be pretty cool.

I played little big planet for about 2 hours before I got bored....it is my only game for the PS3...

i saw a video where some guy made a working mechanical calculator in little big planet.. it seemed pretty cool. I wouldn't buy a PS3 for a single game though. They have a few decent exclusives, but for the most part there isn't much to offer that the 360 doesn't have.

I also have a Wii, which has sat dormant for at least 6 months now.

Infamous is what really drew me in. Little Big Planet was the first game that appealed to me. My 360 is still at the top for me. I'll always buy the Xbox version on multi-platform releases. I also have a Wii but the only game that gets any real playing time is Animal Crossing. I got hooked on that game for the GC and the Wii version is 10 times better.

I'm looking forward to Uncharted 2, God of War 3, the new Ratchet & Clank and Heavy Rain. I might also pick up Metal Gear Solid 4 and the two Resistance games.

At this point in time, I would sooner buy a PS3 as a Blu-Ray player than as a gaming console. Echoing kleinma, it doesn't have much in the way of exclusives (that I'm significantly interested in) over the 360.

as for watching disks, i only purchase movies i will watch over and over. I have seen transformers about 5 times, and certain parts of it i have seen about 20. I particularly like the helicopter transformation.

If the only reason you would use a gold membership would be for netflix, then I could understand not wanting to shell out the money. However if you have an xbox 360 that you use for more than one purpose, then the 50 bucks a year is really a very fair price for what you get.

Plus if you don't buy direct, and shop around, you can find some good deals.

I know not everyone has high speed, but the majority of those playing online video games do. Anyone on xbox live I believe would have to unless they are using some dial up connection sharing of some sort.

I just don't see disc media being prevalent all that much longer. I really hope we do NOT see another format come to market after blu-ray.

Music is nearly there now, video will surely follow.

i stream some of my shows now, thanks to tivo's season pass, but even with 10.0mbps which i have now, the bandwidth just isnt there. When its downloading something, it takes nearly as long as it does to watch it, and all other systems in the house are relegated to crawling the internet.

as for the wii, i will some day own one. as for now, i just breated new life into my game cube last week. I finally found a used copy of twilight princess. It's really odd. Link is left handed in the gamecube version.

I am hoping that Microsoft's project natal will make me forget I even own a Wii.

The whole idea of no controller at all is pretty appealing. One of the wii's weak points is the fact that games need to be molded around the controller setup, whereas natal won't have those boundries.

i wonder if it is camera based? I watched some of the demo videos from ces and it looks ot me like it's still in the works. I thought the people playing it were going to fall down.

It is camera based, and MS stated it is already shipping to 3rd party developers. I would imagine to MAYBE see this for summer/fall 2010. They won't launch the hardware until there are at least some backing titles to push sales.

Bill Gates called it a "depth camera" and I think it is actually 2 cameras in the unit. Plus the voice activation is pretty cool.

And I think as a consumer, one should be wary about a 100% digital distribution model for how it will effect rentals, the used media market, and the concept of ownership of media. But no time to write an essay on that at the moment.

i like the special features. as for the buying the same game more than once, i have personally purchased all of the ultima games more than once due to the fact i've changed systems. I had ultima 6 on c64, snes, amiga, and pc. btw amiga version was the best one. But it's kind of funny, we have a room mate now and she owns almost the exact same movie collection we do, so we now have two copies of nearly everything.

I have bought some games on multiple systems, but games are different because they inherently have (except for bad games) replay value no matter what. They are interactive. Movies and music are a bit different with this respect.

Special features are cool sometimes, but it isn't enough to make me purchase DVDs or blu-ray discs.

Will you be able to get a $5 rental if businesses like Netflix are taken out of the picture and the only place to rent is through the digital distribution center of the movie's producer? I could be wrong, but that's where I see this going: renting will come under control of the first party movie companies and thus become less cost-effective since they'd rather you buy it... but buying won't mean the same thing as it does now, either.

The movie studios do not soley dictate the market price. The consumer has a good amount of control over that. If they want to charge you 20 bucks to RENT a movie, and no one is willing to do that, how long will it last?

its a technology thing. when tvs have 3000x1600 res, new movie formats will be released to take advantage. Frankly i think 3d movies will someday have a home audience that doesnt require colored lenses.

For me, personally, Metal Gear Solid 4 was worth the price of the PS3. The fact it can play Bluray videos, streamed content from my PC, play PS1 games that I own (my PS1 is buggered), can install linux, and has a fully functional browser (for those times I feel too lazy to start up the PC) is just an added bonus for me.

If there was one massive complaint that I have against the PS3 is that my model doesn't support backwards compatibillity with the PS2. This is a massive issue, as over half of my awesome games are on the PS2. That, and the price of the damned console.

some models do support ps2. they contain the emotion engine chip. Before those models were released, the ps3 contained a ps2 emulator. The latest models do not support due to the lack of full compatibility. Supposedly they are working on a cell-based pure software emulation solution that doesn't require extra hardware and will be a downloadable software update.

That is right. The first models did have, like Lord Orwell said, an actual Emotion engine chip (the same chip used in the PS2), and therefore they are awesome. Sony changed the models around to stop PS2 support because apparently it was getting too costly to keep adding compatibility for PS2 games. Personally, I think it was down to Sony's fear of being successful in the video game market.

But I honestly doubt it. Sony normally takes two steps forwards, then quickly one step back. I just hope that the new PS3 slim (if that is even true) will have PS2 compatibillity. I'd even buy that one, considering I have my brother's PS3. That, and some Fox's Viennese biscuits.

I bought the 160gb Uncharted bundle. I hope its backwards compatible but if its not I won't worry about it. I was concerned about backwards compatibility with my 360 for a short time but after a bunch of great games have come out I hardly have the time to play the old Xbox games. I'd rather spend my game time with the new stuff.

also i dont see why it would be "obvious" to support ps2 games if it supports ps1 games. emulating different hardware is extremely demanding. Ps1 emulation is going to be much easier due to the simpler hardware and slower clock speed.
