Visual Studio 2008 Team Edition Q's

    Hey

Basically I really want to try out VSTE as sometimes I'm not at my computer, but want to access my projects and so on from other locations, and I'm mostly likely going to have a joint project with a friend from uni.

I'm just wondering how it works using an Internet connection, do you setup a machine as a development sever, and simply access it over the Internet via VSTE credentials or something? advice appreciated.

You need Team Foundation Server to connect to.

Personally I dont think it is worth it for you to go through the trouble of having a server running that. You would be better off getting a Subversion Source Control plugin for Visual Studio and use http://code.google.com to host your source.

I thought the Team versions were very expensive? I agree that it is probably not going to be worth it just for you to be able to access your files from other locations. You could just install something like LogMeIn onto your PC and then you can log in and view/control it from anywhere that has an internet connection (as long as your PC is turned on of course)
