Re: Sweet Corn in Nebraska...
Have you been picking out of my backyard again?
I shuck the corn, remove all the silks, butter it up (bit of fresh pepper, salt - galic powder if requested), wrap the husks back on it, wrap tightly in aluminum foil, throw it on the grill ... 10 minutes, turning every few... mmmm sweet succulent corn...
My normal supplier off 36th isn't around anymore... need to find a new one. May hit up the guy off of Cornhusker.... not convenient though.

Yeah, maybe, but look at this thread input:
"Easiest way to butter corn is with a slice of fresh bread--load up the butter then wrap the slice of bread around the corn, wipe it all over and enjoy!"
Not sure if the bread should ever be removed. I've never tried this. Please advise.

Re: Sweet Corn in Nebraska...
We have/had three stands of corn plated about 2 weeks apart in our garden. The 1st is gone and the second is just about ripe. This is how we cook it.
Just before cooking, husk the corn, pull off the silky threads, and cut out any blemishes with a pointed knife. Drop the corn into a large pot filled with boiling salted water. Cover the pot and let the water return to a boil again, then turn off the heat and keep the pot covered. After about 5 minutes, remove enough ears for a first serving. You can keep the remaining corn warm in the water for another 10 minutes without its becoming tough. Serve with lots of butter and salt.

Perfect, except that I reduce the salt and add more pepper. Doctor's orders.
Then LOML came up with this high-tech method for one ear of corn:
(1) Husk corn and remove all silks. Trim ends.
(2) Wash ear, spread soft butter all over, and wrap in plastic wrap.
(3) Drop in 2 tablespoons water.
(4) Seal up enclosure with water inside.
(5) Cook on power 7 in microwave for 5 minutes. Steam does the work.
Serve. Add salt and pepper to taste. More butter if needed.

The LOML uses Lawry's Lemon Pepper.

BTW, besides a little salt when I cook, the only things I add salt to are corn and left-over-turkey sandwiches.

Note that I probably add more salt to my corn than you do when I butter (or margarine) it.
That's life.
Anything that tastes good these days is probably bad for you.

Early Sunglow in NJ! Not likely. Some would think it a new summer cocktail, or fruit juice in the grocery perhaps...

"A euphemism is a substitution of an agreeable or less offensive expression in place of one that may offend or suggest something unpleasant to the listener, or in the case of doublespeak, to make it less troublesome for the speaker. It also may be a substitution of a description of something or someone rather than the name, to avoid revealing secret, holy, or sacred names to the uninitiated, or to obscure the identity of the subject of a conversation from potential eavesdroppers. Some euphemisms are intended to amuse."
Therefore, I have no idea what you are talking about. Please explain to my feeble brain.
I love sweet corn, it's in season, and Nebraskans (and their major college football team) are often called Cornhuskers, even though Iowa is the official tall corn state. It's as simple as that (I think).

I thought this thread was about a parody song of "Sweet home Alabama".
[music]Sweet corn in Neb-raska. dun nun nuna nun. Where the corn butters you.[/music]

It all depends on which exit the NJ corn comes from.
