    Resolved [RESOLVED] Virus or...?

About 10 minutes ago i was sitting on my computer, i had firefox, msn, and aim open (everything is normal). THen i go to type a message to my friend in AIM, and my computer starts to type the number one repeatedly, almost as if i was holding down the key. I first check to see if something was causing the key to be stuck, no.

I endedup restarting my computer. It got to the screen where it give the options to enter bios, etc, and my computer was still typing 1. the computer started to beep because it was typing 1, and thats not a valid option...

I have no idea what this is, or how to fix it. Anyone have a solution?

Maybe a button on your keyboard is stuck. Just bang it once or twice (lightly) and see if it corrects the problem.
Also try detaching the keyboard cord and attaching it back again or try with another spare keyboard if possible.

oh, i forgot to mention. I unplugged the keyboard as well, and then tried booting. I got the same reaction from the computer.

    Re: Virus or...?

You mean even with the keyboard unplugged and you still experience the same behavior during POST? If that's the case, it's most likely caused by hardware.

I'm not sure if this will help but have you scan the boot-sector for viruses?

Is that the actual (real) video clip you recorded during the bootup of your computer?
    You're very funny, Dclamp

There could be some problem with your BIOS. Try resetting your BIOS.
Open the cabinet and remove the BIOS cell then insert it back. This will reset the BIOS to its factory settings.
If that doesn't work you may also try flashing the BIOS again.

    Re: Virus or...?

I came home today and turned on my computer, expecting it to beep at me. Then windows booted up. No beeping. I opened the case, all fans are working... I cleaned it out a bit... Hopefully it wont happen again.
