    Resolved [RESOLVED][2008] Deploy non-installing EXE

I want to compile an EXE that does not need to install. The app does not require any other files or resources.

    Is this possible?

What programming language are you using? Also, what IDE are you using? An executable file always requires a runtime (unless it is compiled in native code) and that should be installed on the client system if you do not plan to distribute an installation package.

    I'm using Visual Studio 2008 w/ VB.

I figured it out, the IDE compiles the EXE and places it in the App\Bin\Debug. You can then just send the EXE around and it runs.

Not really. If the use does not have .Net framework installed (which one depends on which one you targeted during developemnt) the app will not work.

Well the requirements for running a .net app obviously still apply. For what I was doing, that was sufficient. I wasn't going to include an elaborate installer and distributable framework.
