Heh, heh, heh.... I sense a severe arse-kicking followed by a court appearance and fine in the pipeline . Handy things, these cameras

Sorry SBD, but did they actually follow up with "I shall be paying these people a visit !!" in bold?

You need to be 100% clear on the font weight.

    Many happy birthdays to you.

Yep, bold it is, as well as "!!". I reckon the guy is absolutely certain he's got a prosecution and is going to take great delight in chasing it up.

The rubbish was actually collected on thursday afternoon, and probably rummaged through on friday. I got the email on saturday, which for the "Environmental Action Unit" would be overtime....

Letters I'd planted in the bags addressed to the house.

The phrase is defined as dumping your trash in an other place other than an authorized disposal site. However, it covers where the tipper (the person dumping their trash) is authorized. Hence it is illegal to dump your trash in someone elses trash collection receptacle, uless you are authorized to do so.

It's (or was) quite common if you were doing building renovations for example, and had a 'tip' (a large truck-size bucket) outside you house to collect the waste, to find it full of someone elses trash the next day. You'd have to empty it before you could use it.

Oddly, it's not so much of a problem in the US as the UK. Perhaps Americans are more environmentally conscious than the Brits

Just leave it behind the chip shop (wait 'til after dark, of course)...

It may be a financial decision. In the UK you're charged by weight for disposal of commercial waste at landfill, so pikeys will charge for removal then dump it anywhere.

Those involved in this case have a negative IQ, as a little creative thinking could have resulted in it being removed by "Environmental Services" for the price of a phone call. (But that would have deprived me of the pleasure......)

You're not missing much. New EU legislation means that chip shops are not allowed to serve more than 47 individual chips per customer (62 chips if you also order a cod fillet).

At UK airports, British nationals don't need to produce a passport to re-enter the country, simply a cup of tea and a top-hat.
