I've got a dissected iMac on my bedroom floor at the moment. Will put pics up on demand, just can't guarantee I'll upload them very quickly...

Yup, looks just as bad in the inside as it does on the outside, the OS looks like crap too... Apple's at least consistent throughout, I'll give em that

If I ever find myself with an indoor cat, I'll be looking for one of the classic colorful imac's to use the case as a cat bed.

I get the feeling that you guys don't like Macs very much.

The macbook's wireless card died, so I wanted to see what was involved in replacing it.

I didn't take mine apart, but I did void the warranty to put a decent firmware on it.

your lack of taste is consistent. If Apple's known for anything, it's style. And have you ever taken a pc laptop apart? I wish it was that easy.

see above. I wish a pc laptop looked that good inside. I spent two hours trying to get to the power plug on one once that was poorly designed to the point that when the owner dropped it, it snapped the power coupler off the motherboard.

I tried riding a bike once and it was really difficult because I kept falling down. Clearly, it was the bike's fault!

Re: Shield your eyes
Dells are great to take apart. Very easy and straight forward. However, the bar above the keyboard on Dells has a habit of breaking when trying to remove it. The little plastic tabs like to break off.

Of the 20 or so of them I've taken apart and put back together, I've never had that problem.

Re: Shield your eyes
i took apart a jbook once. It was a nightmare. Why on earth should someone have to disassemble a screen to remove the top of the case? But you do. Screen mounting screws to the swivel were inside the screen itself and the swivel mounts came through the top lid instead off of a seam.
