    WPF/Silverlight Forum

Should the name and/or description of the WPF, etc. forum be changed to specifically incorporate Silverlight as I'm seeing more and more Silverlight questions being asked in the VB.NET forum? I've not really used either but, from what I understand of their relationship, the WPF forum seems the most appropriate place for Silverlight questions.

    Hey,

That is a great addition to VBForums!!! I am going to be learning Silverlight/Moonlight very soon (once I get my Microsoft Exams completed), and this forum will no doubt be a great source for getting answers to my questions!!

    Good job!!!

    Re: WPF/Silverlight Forum

    Hi Brad,

First off, thanks for allowing us to discuss new tech in a place where the board moves slow enough that everyone gets their posts looked at, it really helps to have a WPF/Silverlight section.

I need to make a suggestion though. Silverlight is like a web version of WPF so to speak. WPF is a presentation layer that has its own markup language (XMAL). Silverlight is also built upon the same presentation layer, taking into account web limitations. It is NOT a flash killer or a flash clone or even an ASP.NET/flash hybrid.

For this reason I would like to ask if the WPF and Silverlight boards be merged and WCF/WF be seperated. If this is not done the silverlight board will begin to lag behind the WPF board even though many concepts are the same. WPF and Silverlight are based on the same presentation layer WCF/WF are not. In fact they are not technically related technologies.

I know one is a web and one is a windows layer but both are for "Presentation" and a simple [Silverlight] [WPF] [GENERAL] set of tags would keep everything nice and tidy.

    Thanks for looking at this!

    Dean!

    Re: WPF/Silverlight Forum

Silverlight is part of WPF, so maybe "WCF, WPF, WF and Silverlight" could be a new name for the existing forum. In the past, I usually moved Silverlight threads to the WPF forum, and a name change could avoid confusion.
