Ok, here's the thing. I've been working on this for a long time now and I can't seem to find a way to a way to make it work. I can make it so that if you know the IP address of the other person and they know yours, you can connect to each other, but i want only one person to know the server's ip and be able to connect. I'd also like this to be for more than one person. I can't seem to find any good examples or tutorials on this stuff anywhere. any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

you will need a static hostname for that, something you might want to look at would www.dynip.com
    which will give you.... what.ever.you.want.dynip.com
and when ever your modem is dialed in, your computers IP address is "what.ever.you.want.dynip.com".

Try that and just call it like "chatserver.dynip.com"

Ok, i see what you're saying, but i don't quite see how that would work. I just registered one of those web sites with a different company like a week ago, so if i wanted to use that, i could, right? But how does it know that its my ip address? I'm a little confused with that. My internet access is through road runner(cable isp) and my ip is dynamic. Also, i thought that with something.somethingelse.com, the ip of that was the server(somethingelse). Could you possibly elaborate on what you said earlier. Thanks.
