You pay your taxes, then go and vote.

Re: U.S. tax day...
Been proposed before - won't work . The majority of voters (when they get off thir lazy back sides) don't pay taxes, so will continue to vote for a regime which distributes the wealth from those that pay taxes to those that don't.
I say, we continue to pay taxes but we choose which departments our tax dollars go to (45% to military defense, 40% to veterans affairs, 10% to the welfare department - 9% of that will actually be administrative costs, because you'll need to hire people just to write the letters to repeatedly tell the leeches to get a job - and the last 5% is the rainy day fund. The rest is taken care of by the states). Every tax payer can choose where their money goes.
(Remember, it's also BAG day as well as a lot of TEA rallys)

Since I don't vote in the United States, it doesn't make a difference, when I pay my taxes.

Re: U.S. tax day...
I turn in my tax forms in February. I actually pay my taxes in 26 installments spread fairly evenly throughout the year.
By the way, we are mostly only talking about federal taxes, as there is no tax day for sales tax, liquor tax, gas taxes, property tax, etc., nor for car registration, boat registration, fishing liscenses, and so on. Since we are only talking about federal tax, shouldn't we also take note that there isn't a federal election every year, and that we only tend to get good turnout of voters every four years?
