Since VBF now has Social Groups functionality. I suggest people start joining the few groups that have already been created. (Photography and Linux groups now exist and are actually the only sensible ones in the list).

And you should probably notice that half of the regular CC'ers were ECCC members before it dissolved... the other half are all newer than that.

I was not a member of ECCC, and I WAS around that long. I felt there was little advantage for making some kind of formalized division within chaos. It's kind of like measuring density of fecal matter, when we all know that crptcblade will win that one once he becomes just a little more tacktless.

CC should be inclusive, not exclusive.

I personally am not interested in it but I believe you should respect everyone's freedom absolutely. If people are interested then let them join. If you're not interested then don't join but don't be irked by those who want to join. What if someone you knew got on your case about being a VBForums member? Would you appreciate that? Wars happen when people don't respect the freedom of others.

As far as the ECCC goes, I was around at that time too. I just thought that was taking it a tad to far towards the realm of gayness. Besides, JacobRoman, or whatever it was, was an integral part of it. That alone screams stay away.

In fact, I think that was shortly after the decline of chit chat and was a contributing factor in the decay that followed. Seems things are shaping up a tad, but it ain't the same, that's for sure.

Time is a funny thing. A funny thing that needs to be stabbed in the neck and put through a wood chipper. ::crptcblade moment::

Actually I would argue against your case EntityX. The freedoms of others can only be respected so long as both parties are looking for equal rights otherwise somebodies freedom is being encroached on. For instance these guys want an ECCC which they are free to do. I do not want them to have an ECCC as I feel enough chat goes on already. Therefore, my freedom should be respected and I should be allowed my protest. No disrespect to you of course.

I think personal desires complicate our lives tremendously. The more you find your happiness within yourself the less you condition your happiness on externals. There are something like 6.5 billion people on this planet. If you're putting all kinds of conditons on how everyone else is supposed to live so that you can be happy you'll never be happy. That's why I personally believe each individual should make an effort to find his happiness within himself more and more. My happiness is still very conditional but I'm working to make it less so. If you're happiness was absolutely unconditonal then you could live without food and air and anything else material. St. John of the Cross said, "To reach satisfaction in all, desire satisfaction in nothing. To come to the possession of all, desire the possession of nothing. To come to be all, desire to be nothing." It's not a very popular doctrine but it's one that I believe in.
