Resolved [RESOLVED] Vista 64 bit Install

Will an installation package created using the VB6 PDW on a Vista 32 bit OS install and run properly on the Vista 64 bit OS?

    Thanks for any info.

    isnoend07,
Thanks for the reply, I had already read that thread before posting. It doesn't address the question of the installation package using the VB6 PDW.

    Thanks for trying.

    Re: Vista 64 bit Install

As far as I can tell, the setup.exe bootstrap program used by PDW packages is 32-bit code and not 16-bit. Since setup1.exe is a VB6 program that will be 32-bit as well.

So I don't see anything to prevent a PDW package from installing under Vista64.

I think you will be fine, simply trying it is the best solution though. I've seen a couple of VB6 apps deployed succesfully on 64bit machines,

Do let us know how you get on though.

    Re: Vista 64 bit Install

    Pino,

My client decided to stay with Windows XP on the new machine because all the other machines on their network are XP.

But since almost all off the shelf new machines are coming with Vista 64 bit, I was curious if I need to start looking for a different Installation Packaging software.

    Thanks for the reply
