In my personal opinion, I reckon I'm pretty good at ice-skating right now. So last night I got me a set of skates... with which I fell... TWICE.

Still, the skates look quite good.

Anyone have any experience with skates / skating?

I played ice hockey for a few years for a local Vancouver team. But because I'm so thin, even the referees would check me. It was still good. Now I can't skate. There's no ice anywhere outside Canada.

At 6th Form we all (eg all 200 of us) went to some massive ice-rink in Nottingham (I think). It was a Saturday and therefore packed. Me and 7 of my mates decided it would be a wasted opportunity to don some ice skates and prat about for 3 hours when there is a perfectly servicable pub over the road. So 5 hours later the Head-Of-Year turned up in the sort of bad mood usually associated with Quentin Tarantino movies.

They made us find our own way home. Which was fine because we just hired a minibus plus the purchase of a 16 pack of Stella, on the Deputy HOY's expense account (which we all had a copy of for emergencies like this).

I was never allowed to iceskate. Instead, my father would just throw me into a pile of broken glass. I assume its roughly the same experience.
