Resolved [RESOLVED] Flash drive disappears.... will it come back?

    Hi guys,

I have this wierd thing going on. We use those little flash drives (thumbdrives, memory key) in our unit as additional storage. Usually it works great.. you stick it in the slot and go. But sometimes, for no reason that I've been able to figure out, the system will stop seeing the flash drive. It's as if we pulled it out but it's actually physically still in the machine.

    Two questions, please:

    1) what would cause the system to forget the flash drive is still there
    2) What can I do to make it "come back" and/or does it do that after a certain amount of time?

    Thanks!!

I have seen such thing when the battery is low, maybe that is the cause OR there is some dust in the slot

Like Lightning I've seen that happen with a HP Ipaq in which the SD card would "vanish" when the battery fell below 10%. However it doesn't happen with my present PPC so I guess it's hardware-specific.

Also if you plug/unplug or change the card while the PPC is switched off it can get a bit confused when you turn it back on.

Thanks, y'all.... at least it gives me something to go on. I'll give that info to the engineers and let them take it from there.
