    RAM increase gameplay speed?

I'm not a computer wiz, but I'm just wondering if add more RAM would speed up gameplay? I know it'll speed up the computer itself.

I have 512mb right now. (max of 4GB) And will be replacing it with 2 sticks of 2Gb's and putting the 512mb elsewhere.
I'm running windows XP pro, Nvidia Gforce 6200 (sucks I know) and 2.7 GHz 4CPU.

If your motherboard has dual channels on the ram controller, it can do the equivalent of raid-striping your ram and this doubles the read/write.

And it depends on the game. If the game is filling up system ram and then some, the yes, it will be faster. The biggest bottleneck is almost always your video card, but 512 is pathetically low. 2gb is what i would consider a bare minimum nowadays, unless you're running xp. XP you could survive on less but 2gb is better for the ram speed increase.

For more directed info for yourself, you should give me either your motherboard's model number, or the model of your computer if it's store bought (not just the brand!).

you will need to look that one up in your manual. There were evidently several models branded as 4600, including different sizes of computer. They offered both a mini-tower and a slimline. What i HAVE been able to determine though is that system is evidently AGP. You are going to start finding more and more programs it simply won't run at all.
