That tells me that the system partition drive letter is 'D:' instead of the typical 'C:', so what is 'C:' ? is it an actual partition or something else? The Disk manager (my previous post) can answer some of that, a screen shot would work too.
Currently using VS 2015 Enterprise on Win10 Enterprise x64.
I've seen this happen a couple of times on various users PCs, there's a few different causes. One of which is a virus/spyware program.
First thing to do is check in the root of your C drive (and any other drive that is giving you this problem) to see if you have a file named Autorun.inf. You can check this either via command prompt using the DIR command or by just going Start -> Run -> C:\Autorun.inf -> OK. If it errors saying the file could not be found then its not there (obviously). If it opens up an inf file in Notepad then you do have that file there. If you do have it, then you need to delete it, again the easiest way is via command prompt (use the DEL command).
Yes, like Chris128 mentioned in s probably a virus or malware. A backdoor in to the drive would be through the open dialog of program, notepad for example.
If you need to access hidden files on the system try:

are e and f removable drives? If so they are supposed to have an autorun file. I have seen this problem before where explorer got messed up. When it asks you what to open c:\ with, point it to c:\windows\explorer.exe.
